"Shipping using UPS rates"
Posted by Patrick on Apr-25-00 at 07:37 PM (EST)
My company ships many items where the weight varies. We ship to locations all acroos the country and we need to charge the exact amount that UPS charges. How do we setup uShop to do this?

At this time with uShop, you can setup shipping tables based on WEIGHT, QUANTITY, or SUBTOTAL. If these tables are different for different regions, then there are two ways of handling that:

1)Create a different shipping method for each shipping region via your order applets "shipping" parameter. For example, you could call your shipping methods "UPS - Eastern Time Zone" and "UPS - Central Time Zone" and "UPS - Mountain Time Zone" and "UPS - Pacific Time Zone"...and then setup a different shipping table for each zone. Of course, this relies on the customer selecting the right zone.

2) Another option is to make a page - using regular HTML - were the customer must selet their shipping region (possibly from a picture of the US)...before they even get to the order form. That is, when the customer goes to "Check Out" the first thing you do is link them to a page with a map of the United States on it. Give instructions to "Select the region where the order will be shipped"....and then based on where in the map they selected....link them to a different order page with the order applet's shipping already setup for that region.

(Of course, you don't have to use a map of the US for this....you can have regular HTML links to your different order applets).
