"variable weights"

I'm thinking of creating a custom applet.
It needs to be like uShopinput4 but for each option I need to be able to define a corresponding weight. i.e a comma separated list of weights in the weight parameter, one for each option.
The problem is how can I figure out which weight value to select from the list?
Can I obtain an index number of the selected option or scan the list for the selected option?

cheers STEF

If you are going to be writing your own custom Java applet... and possibly using a "Choice" drop-down component, then you can use the:

Choice.getSelectedIndex()

... function to get the index of the option that was select. Perhaps you can then use that index to lookup the weight.

See http://www.ora.com/info/java/qref11/java.awt.Choice.html for more information about the methods available with a Choice AWT Java component.
