"Working with databases"
Posted by Reggie Harmon on Apr-20-01 at 02:16 PM (EST)
I have seen many references about running uShop in conjunction with a database. This is obviously a popular request, so I hope you don't mind me bringing it up again.

I have searched your site for instructions on how to connect a database to ushop. Did I miss those intructions or can you tell me how I can get them?

If it is possible to use a database with uShop, does anyone have an applet that will list multiply items when a search is done?

Hope you can help.

Thanks
Reggie

As for whether or not uShop has database capability: Not at this time, but be sure to check out the reference pages for the "Search" and "Browse" applets in the uShopTM Applet Reference - which read product data from flat text files.

While database integration may be available in a future product of Microburst, it is currently not a feature in our shopping cart software.

I have created a complete database administration that integrates with uShop. Requires MySQL, php4, cgi and obviously ssl. You can do cross selling, run specials, etc. I have spent many hours working with several customers to help perfect the admin. There are two levels, one for staff and level 2 for more secure access. Merchants are quite pleased with this interface. Very easy for them to admin their store.

Non working admin "add to database" example. This is an earlier version, it has changed a bit since, all fields totally customizable. Newer versions have a few more features.

I have spent many hours developing this admin and public store scripting interface. Scripts are not available as free for download. Will consider selling / installing admin and store scripting licensed as to single domain / account usage.

The uShop with this admin interface has been a great solution for many merchants. It also integrates with other carts but I prefer uShop as it offers many more features than the competition.
