"Category Discount Applet Discount2 Question"
Posted by James on Oct-27-00 at 03:13 PM (EST)
Hi Bill,
The category discount applet works great for items which have one classification. Is there a way to add 2 classifications that the discount applet can recognize? Apparently one of my clients wants to be able to discount either "Product Category" and/ or "Manufacturer" in which I can populate field from db as Class_1 and Class_2. Comma and other delimeters don't seem to work. You can only use 1 class.

PARAM NAME="classification" VALUE="$row[Class_1]"

It would be very helpful if it could read:

PARAM NAME="classification" VALUE="$row[Class_1],$row[Class_2]"

It's great there are no limitations with number of classifications on the discount2 applet.

Any ideas would be appreciated,
James

I guess as an alternative I can list all Manufacturers for a category if a complete category is discounted while using Manufacturer as the default classification.

Thanks,
James

You are correct, at this time each product can have only one classification. I did, however, check the code to see how the classification comparison is actually made....just in case the comparison was made via a pattern match....but no, an exact string compare is used. So you'll have to use some kind of alternate method as you described.

Thanks Bill,
What I will do is output from db to classifications - Category_Manufacturer
value="$row[Class_1]_$row[Class_2]"

Then in discount applet, discount_table value set up as needed ie:

VALUE="Handbags_Maxx=10%,Handbags_Desmo=10%"

I just hope there is no limit for discount table values as there are many categories.

Thanks again,
James
