"Additional Sales Pop Up applet"

Hello All,

It would be neat if we could actually add to any of the input applets the ability to assign a pop up of specials when they click add to cart... And actually be able to have a differnt HTML page made and in the server so that you can call up a different " additional sales " page made up of HTML in a window that can be different for each item....

Seems to me with java you can add a line to the applet that would bring up a pop html page...you can make it already and it is set to open when a client clicks the add to cart button...I know java scripts do this...but would be neat to make a bunch of specials pages in HTML...and then have the applet of choice call it up when a certain product is added to cart...

Unfortunately, Java doesn't allow you have as much control over windows that it pops-up. That is, you would basically have two options with Java:

1) Show the HTML page in an entirely new browser window (which would be whatever size and with all the standard browser buttons/menus as the user normally has when starting his/her browser.)

or

2) Direct the HTML page into an existing browser window (via a "target" parameter).

Doing it with JavaScript is nice in that you can set the size, buttons, menus and etc. of the window that gets popped-up. (as opposed to having a huge, full browser window started).

In any case, we'll consider it.

Bill,

I have made a java script that does just this so if anyone wants it just let me know. You can see what it does by going to:

www.radiopet.com/rp50.html and you will see a green button that says specials..when it is clicked it opens a window with some specials.

//Popup Window Script
//By Paul W. Abernathy (http://radiopet.com)
//JavaScript made by Paul Abernathy

function openpopup(){
var popurl="specialitems.html"
winpops=window.open(popurl,"","width=620,height=338,toolbar,location,directories,status,scrollbars,menubar,resizable,")
}

OK,

Note: First make you a HTML page which is tight to the left and only about 6-7 inches wide at max since the pop is set only for 620. We use specialitems.html above but you can use the name of the page you just made.

Next make you button to use with the script...and make sure you set the size right...we made ours 141 x 36 but it can be what ever size your gif is. Name the button specials.gif otherwise you will have to change that above also.

Enjoy....Already has added sales to my site and you can see how it works by trying this URL:
