"Flash Button instead?"
Posted by Matt on Sep-30-02 at 02:16 AM (EST)
I just searched all through the archives and couldn't find anything on this. But how about, in future releases, being able to use a FLASH button as the "checkout" button instead of the applet generated one or the "image" tag?

I'm sure this is probably possible going into one of the scripts and editing the information, but that just seems to be an option not currently available!

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks,
Matt Kachurak

So you're looking for an interface for FLASH mutlimedia? We'll look into it.

In the mean time, I believe you can make JavaScript calls from Flash, so you may want to look into uShop's JavaScript API.

Also, as another alternative... which really is not recommended since I don't think it will work with all browser/JVM combinations... here is something you can try:

STEP 1: Put the uShopOrderButton applet on the page where you want your FLASH checkout button. You can specify the WIDTH and HEIGHT of the applet to be really small (such as 1 x 1) and/or set the image of the applet to something small... so that the button is virtually invisible. By having this applet on the page, all the necessary settings will be applied.

STEP 2: Setup your FLASH checkout button to link directly to the ../classes/display_cart.html page if the browser type is "Netscape". Also setup your FLASH checkout button to link directly to the ../classes/display_cart2.html page if the browser type is "Internet Explorer".

Try it out!

You absolutely can have Flash interact with javascript. Shoot me a mail if you need assistance.
