Any new listings entered won't appear on the alphabeticall listing section but I can see them all in the uDirectoryPersonal.txt section.

Can you give a clue as to what the problem is here ????

It all worked perfectly up to about 2 days ago.

Thanks in advance,

Richard.

Actually, in the personal edition of uDirectory, any "uDirectoryPersonalTemp.txt" files are only supposed to be temporary files used while updating the HTML pages...and then deleted. So if you are seeing any "uDirectoryPersonalTemp.txt" files... then that is a good indication that the permissions on your HTML files may have gotten changed somehow. That is, make sure all of the listing HTML files (listings-A.html, listings-B.html, listings-C.html, ...) that are located in your "listings" directory, still have WRITE permissions. In fact, if you using a UNIX server, just do a chmod 777 on them.

I had checked that allready and all the listing files except index.htm have permissions of 777, index.htm is 755. Any other permissions I should be looking at ????

Thanks,

Richard.

Since it was working before ... and then suddenly stopped working, I'm sure it is a permissions problem. So in addition to making sure that all of your listing HTML files (listings-A.html, listings-B.html, listings-C.html, ...) have READ/WRITE permission, also make sure that your "listings" directory itself has READ/WRITE/EXECUTE permissions (chmod 777).

Also, since the "uDirectoryPersonalTemp.txt" is just a temporary file... you can go ahead and manually delete that file now.... just in case.

Note For NT Users: If you have an NT server, then you won't be able to change the permissions with your FTP program (even though it won't return an error). If you have an NT server, then you will probably have to get your web hosting provider to give your "listings" directory READ/WRITE permissions (so that CGI scripts can read/write files to it). Also on NT servers, I think there is a permissions setting called "MODIFY" ... so make sure the directory has "MODIFY" permissions also.
