"Is there a limit to number of categories?"

Hi,

I have not purchased the Deluxe version yet, but I am wondering if there is a limit to the number of categories that you can have on a single version of the program? I read somewhere on this board that you can break up your directory by using multiple copies of the program tied togethe with one .index page but I am wondering how many categories is the preferred maximum?

One more thing...are there plans in the future for including sub-categories? I want to set up a rather large directory and using sub-categories within the program would help a lot. If sub-categories are added later would the update be free and rather easy to install in a currently-running version?

Thanks,

Jennifer

In regard to your questions:

1) No, technically, there is no limit to the number of categories that can be created. It's just a case of how long you want to let the category selection list get (used in the upper-right for navigation).

2) As for subcategories, we may eventually add subcategories, but the number of requests that we have received for a subcategory feature has dropped ever since we added the "Max Listings Per Page" feature. See configuration question #16 in the "Configuring The Script" section of the User's Guide for more information on that:

3) As for updates, minor updates are usually free. Major updates may or may not have a small fee associated with them. And whenever releasing updates, we try to make them as backward compatible with previous versions/data as possible... but there is no way to know at this time about upgrading steps of future releases.
