"Complete Order Button not working"

Posted by Bryan [thedysons@home.com] on at 10:36 PM
I have been able to add all of the input buttons correctly, but when I try to add a Complete Order Button, all I get is a gray rectangle. I have replaced the codebase section of the applet with other .class files in the same directory and they appear correctly. This is all being done on my PC (in frontpage 2000) to make sure everything is working properly before I publish it. I had the same problem with the tutorial. Please let me know if I need to publish it for it to work correcly or if it is another problem.

Thanks,
Bryan

I have two solutions for you, concerning this problem.

OPTION 1: Delete the your ushop-settings.txt file (located in your "data"
directory) and then login to your uShop Control Panel and reconfigure the
General Settings.

or

OPTION 2: Edit your ushop-settings.txt file and insert the "Continue" labels
as described in this support forum posting:

http://www.uburst.com/dcforum/ushp_general_purpose/221.html

.... which describes someone who had the same problem.

Hope this helps.

It sounds like you are running into the problem discussed here:

http://www.uburst.com/dcforum/ushop_applets_shopcart/69.html

So try the suggestions there in order to get that applet working from your local desktop computer.
Otherwise, it will work once you put everything on your server.

"on to the next problem..."
Posted by Bryan [thedysons@home.com] on at 10:44 PM
Everything looks great when I uploaded it to the server. My next problem is with the ushop.pl file. I can get a log in screen, but after I enter my password I get a "You are not autorized to view this page" message. I assume it is a CHMOD problem but I have changed all the files to what they are supposed to be.

The only thing that does not seem right to me is that I can't find any of the the files under the data directory that I have read about. I assume when I get everything worked out, the ushop.pl file will create them for me?

Thanks for any help you can give me.
Bryan

Could be a problem with the permissions, yes.
If it persists, try changing the permissions to 777 (all Read, Write, Execute) and see if that remedies it. It could also be a problem with URL settings. Are you logging into the ushop.pl file you uploaded to your secure server, or to your regular unsecured server?

"It's working!!!"

I spoke to my isp and they informed me that their secure unix server will not allow me to execute a cgi script. So I changed all my info to point to the unsecure location and it is working fine. How big of a risk am I taking by taking information over the unsecure server? I am interested to hear what course of action you would take.

Thanks for all your help,
Bryan

As always, transmitting order sensitive information over an unsecured interface is not recommended. The risk you are taking is relatively high.

Our recommendation is to locate a secure server host that will permit you to set execute permissions to your scripts.

Hope this helps.

"One last question"
Posted by Bryan [thedysons@home.com] on at 10:30 PM
I was able to move my site to a newer server that allows me to execute the scripts securely. Everything was working perfect before the move but now I get a File Error "Unable to open ./data/06202001-003046301.order". Let me know what I need to do to solve this and I will be out of your hair forever...maybe!

Thanks for all the help,
I'm soooo close.

Sounds like your data directory isn't referenced correctly. Double-check your paths in the setup and make sure that they correspond to the new paths on your new server.

Otherwise, submit a support request with the URL of your store, and I'll take a look at it.
