"ushop V2 - Checkout html images not displaying"

Posted by David Levy [davidlevy@triad.rr.com] on at 03:12 PM
I have no problem with my applets displaying when I go to the order page, but all of my page images outside of the applets are not displaying. My applets are populated - the whole shopping cart system works fine, just no page items. I'm using uShopOrderImageButtonCGI.class to link to the order page and the order_page parameter is set ../checkout.html. Like I said, the page is loading with the applets, but my page images are pointing to my images directory under my cgi-bin.
Pretty wierd. I can't figure out why this is happening. All of my page images are one level down from the root (images/image.gif) and are all relative links. Any ideas.

Thanks,
David

RELATING TO USHOP 2.X

If it is the image on your "uShopOrderImageButtonCGI" button that is not showing up, then make sure that the image is located in your "classes" directory. (The same directory as all of your uShop 2.x class files).

If it is just the images on your order.template page that are not showing up... then the problem there is that you must use the FULL URL of the images on that order.template page. This is because the ushop_cgiscript.pl script will output that page ... after inserting some special tags ... and so any relative image paths used on that page will be relative to the cgi-bin. So to resolve the problem, just specify the images on the order.template page as the FULL URLs to the images.

In regard to the uShopOrderImageButtonCGI.class file, if I read correctly - the "order_page" parameter can not be a full URL. I was lead to believe that it must be a relative path. And yes, I did set the path in relation to the cgi-bin - going up one to the root and then going back down to the images folder. You can go check it out at http://www.eddieconner.com/test.html. When you press the checkout button on the left nav you'll see what happens.
If you want to see my fix, from the order page, that you should be sitting on, press any of the supposed rectangular navigation buttons on the left and you'll be out the test and into the actual site. From there you'll notice I'm not using the button applet.

After a little bit of thinking, I came to the conclusion that I didn't even need the button applet. I just made a roll-over for the checkout button to simply go to the order page and everything is working fine. Actually, I'm not exactly sure what that applet would be used for that would be critical to the use of the shopping cart.

Anyway, if you see anything that I've missed please let me know.

Thanks for trying to help out,
David

The "order_page" parameter can not be a FULL URL... but any images that you want displayed on the template page itself, must be specified as the full URL of the image. Otherwise the image will NOT show up.

In regard to the need to use the uShopOrderButtonCGI applet at all in uShop 2.x... it is required if you have your regular store HTML pages on your PUBLIC server... and your order form pages on your SECURE server. If you do not use the uShopOrderButtonCGI applet, some browsers will lose the shopping cart data when you transfer from the public (http) server to the secure (https) server. Read sections 5 and 6 on the following uShop 2.x reference page for more information:
