"Customer to Download file after payment"

Posted by Tuck Tellier [ttellier@superior.net] on at 02:55 PM
The first item on our shopping cart catalog is for a booklet that can be downloaded as a text file or .doc file after the customer checks out.

We are having trouble finding out how to send them an access code automatically after they are approved with their credit card. There must be a cgi script to do this.
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, uShop does not scale to real-time payment processing yet. This is however, a feature that will be considered in the next release of uShop. I don't know off hand of any real-time processing scripts that can plug into uShop's ordering proceedure.

Just to clear up Joseph's answer a little more, uShop DOES provide interfaces to real-time payment processing systems, as described at:

http://www.uburst.com/uShop/interfaces.html

uShop, does not, however have any built-in feature to handle electronic distribution (of products that are distributed electronically) after order have been placed.

We have had a few other requests for a feature to automatically handle electronic downloads/distribution after orders are placed... so we do have that on our future features wish list.

In the mean time, you may be able to link to some external download script ... possibly from the "complete_order" subroutine of the ushop.pl script. -- Unfurtunately, I do not know of any off-hand, but you may want to check out some CGI-Resource places.

Note: One of the downsides to automating any sort of immediate download at the end of the order process... is that it the storeowner won't have the option to decline certain orders that appear fraudulent and/or questionable. Just something to consider....
